FROM TRAGEDY TO VICTORY

 In my book, From Tragedy To Victory, I tell my personal story of recovery from a near-death accident. I would not be alive today without the expertise and care I received from the EMS, Fire Rescue personnel and the Blake Medical Center Trauma Team.

Around 6:00 a.m. on December 18, 2011, Curtis, my husband, and I were driving through a residential area. We were wrapping up our daily paper route when a driver under the influence of drugs and alcohol crashed head-on into our Dodge Caravan at 100 miles per hour.

The driver and my husband were killed instantly. I sustained critical injuries: C2 fracture in my neck, two broken legs, two broken hands, broken pelvis, broken hip, ruptured spleen & liver damage.   I suffered a brain injury and was in a coma for two weeks.    When I came out of the coma, I couldn't talk because I had a tube down my throat to help me breathe. To start my only form of communication was one blink for "Yes" and two blinks for "No". Because of my neck fracture, I had to wear a halo for three and a half months.  I spent six weeks in the ICU.   I endured a long road of recovery and 9 months of physical therapy. 

My life was changed forever. I  hope that my story  will be an inspiration  & provide hope for others who are going through a trauma or crisis  of any kind.

FROM TRAGEDY TO VICTORY is Barbara's story of how faith in God brought her physical, emotional, and spiritual healing. It will also bring God's touch of love and healing to all who read this book.
